On 12th – 14th of August 2011 the Sloping Field (Trakų district) will become a place of important ecological lessons, and activities based on community living.
For those, who still do not know – “Valley of Winds” is a non-profit initiative run by volunteers. The main aim of this three-day festival is to bring together people who are passionate about ecology , and create an environment where everybody can create and be a part of the community; also, we will learn from each other and have lots of fun.
This year we will be living together in a village of tents where we will take care of our day-to-day needs, and once again will improve our communal skills. There will be lectures, workshops, film screenings, music, field games, and many more activities to enjoy. We will gain new knowledge and share inspiring experiences.
Neither your age nor profession, nor anything else matters- everybody is welcome in “Valley of Winds”. The only thing that matters is what we believe to be important – ecology and contemporary living alternatives. We promise that everybody will find something to do and learn.
The festival is made up of three main elements:
Mind – lectures on ecology, alternative education, and a number of other topics. Lectures will be given by professionals from the festival’s community. Also, this part includes various documentaries and practical seminars.
Body – activities aimed at physical development and leisure: bicycle ride, Frisbee, orienteering, juggling, sauna, night swimming in the lake, and many more.
Soul – various workshops, creating the Earth Mandala, fairytales, and concerts – all of this to nourish the happiness of our soul.
“Valley of Winds” supports ecological travelling: cycling (a ride is organised from Vilnius and Vievis (by train from Kaunas)), hitch-hiking, and hiking. Those who come by car will be charged an eco tax
All who are willing to participate are kindly invited to register by the 7th of August. Our email: veju.info@gmail.com .
We invite you to contribute by actively creating the community. Share this information with your friends, spread the word on the Internet (your blog/web page) or any other way. We want to reach as many passionate people as possible.
The festival is not sponsored by any commercial structures, and so we welcome volunteers and any sort of help and contribution.
